Bud has been state certified for 50 years. For 46 of those years he was employed with Rowe & Newberry Construction, Inc. of St. Petersburg, Florida, Starting as Head Estimator and later becoming a partner and President. Rowe & Newberry specializes in the design and construction of residential homes and commercial buildings.
In 2002, Bud retired as partner and President of Rowe & Newberry and opened Rutland Construction Company, Inc. - finally realizing his life-long ambition of building custom homes.

ABOUT OUR AREA Rutland Construction builds custom homes throughout a large area on West Central Florida. The region is well known as a natural preserve for native wildlife and plants, untouched by widespread development. In fact, the area is referred to as the Nature Coast, due to its many parks, preserves, wild life sanctuaries and many outdoor activities
There are dozens of lakes including Lake Henderson, the Tsala Apopka Lake chain, Lake Panasoffkee, Lake Rousseau, and Lake Weir among others. This area is also criss crossed with dozens of rivers including The Homosassa River, Withlacoochee River, Rainbow River, Chassahowitzka River and the Crystal River which flows into King's Bay which in turn flows into the Gulf of Mexico. As you can imagine this area of Florida is very popular for water sports and water related activities such as boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and even tubing down the river. The fishing here is legendary from salt water fishing for monster tarpon in the Gulf of Mexico to freshwater fishing in the many rivers and lakes for bass, crappy, red fish or brim.
The area is also famous for the endangered prehistoric manatees which swim up into the warm spring fed rivers during the cooler winter months. Opportunities to view these gentle mammals in their natural habitat are varied. You can go on a guided boat tour, snorkel tour or scuba diving. You can actually get in the water and swim with the manatees. There are numerous dive shops, boat rentals and manatee tours in the area.
