A Second Reformation?
Is there a need for revival in the land? Certainly. God's people need a genuine move to revive them to endure the perilous times ahead and the trials they will face. But more than revival we need a reformation in our thinking and our theology.
Pentecostal theology has suffered a paradigm shift in recent years. The lack of commitment to biblical authority and the lack of spiritual discernment have lead to a tragic drifting of the traditional, Biblical, Pentecostal ship. And a ship that drifts will find itself going nowhere by direction and anywhere by default.
It is just this atmosphere that calls for a little less talk and a lot more action as we rapidly approach the end of the church age. It's time for men and women of God-- committed to Biblical authority-- to stand up and be counted. We need stout-hearted men (as an old song described them) who will fight for the Truth of God's Word despite the hardship or the cost.
If you're such a man or woman who wants to be counted on the Lord's side, the Alliance of Biblical Pentecostals may be the vehicle by which you can renew your commitment and find fellowship with other Bible believers who share your precious faith and are committed to defending it.
Alliance of Biblical Pentecostals Designed to Fill Void
Were it not for the perilous times in which we live, such an organization would seem pointless and have no place in the Christian Community, much less the Christian Church. But because of the widespread and wholesale disregard, even disrespect, for the Word of God in favor of emotional experiences and allegorized interpretations, we felt there was a void that ABP could fill.
The "we" referred to is not just the editorial we, but a small group of men who share a common burden for the church. The founding visionary for this organization was Rev. Larry Thomas, former publisher of The Inkhorn and president of Amazing Grace Ministries, who has since gone on to be with the Lord. The directors of ABP are Rev. Gary Osborne, Pastor of Berean Assembly in Spring Hill, FL; Rev. Richard Abel, Pastor of Landmark Christian Fellowship in New Windsor, IL; and Rev. Carolyn Schorle, in Brooksville, FL. All of these people have researched and preached about the charismatic drift in the Church as a whole and the Pentecostal church in particular.
As the name implies, this is an alliance of Pentecostal believers who are dedicated to the sufficiency, inerrancy, and authority of Scripture. Members are from a variety of mainstream Pentecostal denominations such as Assembly of God, Church of God, etc. as well as independent Pentecostal fellowships. ABP is not intended to replace these organizations; nor is it actively seeking members. ABP is nothing more, and nothing less, than a network of Bible believing Christians who are concerned, even appalled, by the mainstream Pentecostal church that has forfeited its Biblical birthright for a mess of Charismatic porridge.
"...there is a widespread

of emotional experiences."
We encourage men and women to stay in their present organization, if they feel they can make a difference and look to ABP as a resource for fellowship. But if this is not possible, then ABP will provide accountability, credentialing, and support for those who chose to move from their current denominational standing.
