At Steinhatchee, its hard to make a bad call when trying to decide where to cast for trout. Folks are picking up good limits from deeper water in the river while casting jigs with grub tails, live shrimp, and TT series Mirrolures within sight of the open gulf. Lots of trout remain out on the grass flats, as well, where Gulp! Shrimp and Jerk Shads in the New Penny and Pearl White colors, along with Paul Brown Originals (Corky Mullets), are working well.

At Steinhatchee, both inshore and offshore anglers had a good fish-catching week.
Capt. Gene Frazier and party filled fine limits of grouper and red snapper last weekend in water 60-feet deep aboard the Nevamiss.
Charlie and Chase Norwood of Sea Hag Marina fished Sunday with Don Jensen of Live Oak, Bobby Ryder of Cocoa and Gary White of Rockledge. Anchored over rocky spots in water ranging from 50-to-60-feet deep, the anglers dropped live pinfish and frozen Spanish sardines to the bottom to take an eye-popping aggregation of red and gag grouper and red snapper.

Steinhatchee Residents Get Sneak Peek Of The Design For New Boat Ramp & Parking Lot
It was an exciting evening for Steinhatchee residents this past Monday, October 25th, as they were able to get a sneak peek of the design for the new boat ramp and parking lot. Although the drawing was a conceptual drawing, those involved in the project are hoping it becomes a reality by July 2011.
It wasnt until the recent purchase of the Ideal Marina property that the project has been brought to life. For a number of years Taylor County Commissioners and a group known as the Boat Ramp Committee have reviewed possible properties and options for a public boat ramp and parking area in the small coastal community. While a few spots were looked at, they were eventually blocked by environmental issues, not being able to be permitted or beyond economical reach. However, the Commissioners and Committee continue to search, ready to meet the needs of the community.
