May 2008, Dr. McDonald has been chosen by Cynosure, the manufacturer of SmartLipo to be a "Cynosure Clinical Reference Center for SmartLipo". Dr. McDonald will be performing live SmartLipo demos for physicians. The physicians will observe Dr. McDonald perform SmartLipo in order to learn from him the proper surgical laser techniques, clinical skills and knowledge about the SmartLipo procedure.
Dr. McDonald will provide follow-up for the physicians in order to ensure that they have learned all of the necessary skills to successfully perform SmartLipo.
Dr. McDonald is honored to be selected as a Cynosure Clinical Reference Center for SmartLipo.
SmartLipo, or Laser Lipolysis, is a new fat-melting technique. It can help patients lose a size or two with little down time, and without the usual effects of loose, bumpy skin associated with traditional liposuction. Instead of vacuuming fat from parts of the body, SmartLipo melts away fat cells. SmartLipo was approved here in the U.S. by the FDA in October 2006, after widespread use over several years in Italy and South America.
Michael W. McDonald, MD is one of a handful of highly trained surgeons in the country trained in SmartLipo or Laser Lipolysis. Dr. McDonald graduated from the University of Ottawa medical school in Ottawa, Canada. After he completed his residency in urological surgery at the University of Ottawa he was accepted to the prestigious University of San Francisco, California. Under the direction of renowed nationally recognized surgeons he completed his minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgical fellowship. He has been performing minimally invasive and laser surgery successfully for the past 15 years.
Dr. McDonald is both American and Canadian Board certified surgeon. He has received liposuction and smart-lipo training at one of the leading accredited national and international centers. He successfully completed his training under the direct supervision of a nationally recognized leader in the SMARTLIPO laser technology.
