Brightest Horizons is located on 10320 Gladious Drive in the Harlem Heights section of Fort Myers, Florida. Our child development program is nationally accredited through APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment) and has been awarded the Gold Seal of Excellence by the state of Florida. Our program provides a secure and enriching environment that serves a widely diverse population of children from the African American, Caucasian, Creole, Haitian, and Hispanic nationalities of their working parents.
We are a state-licensed not-for-profit organization that provides an educational program for 163 children from four weeks to 12 years of age, including after school and a full-time summer schedule. Some of our teachers are former students and we also have third generation children in our program. We see the increased educational levels, job security and higher income levels from generation to generation in our children's families.
The educational program is based on the Creative Curriculum and the High Scope philosophy, designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and developmental needs of the children cared. A well-rounded program with a strong emphasis on early literacy, it is an integral part of the three and four year-olds' learning. We are one of five programs in the state of Florida that was chosen to participate in the Success by Six Early Learning First Grant. This grant was a three year program begun in 2003 that assisted us in providing a literacy-rich educational environment for our children. We also work with tutoring services and volunteers to assist with literacy in the classroom and home work help for the after school children.
Brightest Horizons partners with our children's first teachers-their parents! Parental involvement is crucial to the success of each child. We are responsive to the needs of the entire family and offer help with referrals, counseling, clothing, food and or household items when possible. When you are employed by or enrolled in our program, you become part of the Brightest Horizons family.
Volunteers are an important part of Brightest Horizons. Please contact Tina Parsons or David Young if you would like to volunteer either directly with the children, in the office, or with a project you can do at home. You can truly make a difference in the lives of children. "Children are our greatest concern". We also love visitors. Please arrange to stop by and meet our kids!
