Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Burnham pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of North
Florida with a pre-medical degree in Biology with a minor in Philosophy,
and earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic as vice president of the First
Class to graduate from Palmer Chiropractic College’s Florida campus in
2005. While attending classes, he co-founded several technique clubs
and is the Founding Editor of the Palmer Florida student newspaper. In
2007 Dr. Burnham founded Premier Health Chiropractic to serve the Hampton
Roads communities of Southeast Virginia. Dr. Burnham is a co-founder of
the Town Center Business Alliance and served as Vice President, and has
contributed articles to the The Health Journal. He also proudly served as
the official corporate chiropractor for Planet Fitness in Virginia Beach and
Bally’s Fitness in Virginia Beach.
Dr. Burnham was introduced to chiropractic when an off-road motorcycle
accident caused him to be benched from themiddle school track team with
what he was told was “shin splints”. The pain was so severe he was hardly
able to walk and could not sleep. Dr. Brian Peterson, D.C. in Belfair,
Washington evaluated the situation and realized the problem was in the
balance of his pelvis and one month later Dr. Burnham took two second
place and one first place ribbon in the district track meet. That was
when Dr. Burnham decided then that he would become a Chiropractor.
When he was 19, Dr. Burnham was working as an ocean rescue swimmer
for the Navy MWR at Mayport Naval Station when the driver of his rescue
truck ran into a ditch at 40 mph and ejected him from the rear of the
truck, fracturing his L3 vertebrae and herniating multiple discs, and
shattering both his elbows. Again, Dr. Burnham turned to his chiropractor,
Dr. Ralph Parenio D.C. in Jacksonville, Florida who was able to help Dr.
Burnham avoid surgery but manage his pain. Since that time, Dr. Burnham
has been rear-ended in automobile accidents twice- once at 45 mph and
once at 60 mph.
Dr. Burnham has intricate knowledge of the healing process of the spine
and the limbs of the body, and has built a health-care delivery platform
that is very unique, targeted, and effective by combining multiple effective
therapies in a cohesive, logical progression that helps patients injured
in traumatic incidents or chronic pain sufferers first get out of pain,
then rehabilitate their musculoskeletal system using simple yet effective
rehabilitative exercises to provide structural support of the joints of the
body as much as can be achieved.
Dr. Burnham was recently profiled by The Health Journal, a Virginia
publication with a circulation of approximately 180,000 after being
awarded the “Readers Choice Award 2010” for best chiropractor in a city
with 230 chiropractic clinics after only two years of doing business.
