Alex Montez Murray, American Businessman, Founder of W.O.W Ice, lost his younger sister, Akyra Murray, during the Pulse nightclub shooting. She was just 18 years old, and headed to Mercyhurst University on a full basketball scholarship. Despite his pain of losing a close loved one he pushes forward to help inspire others experiencing similar challenges, and continues his sister's legacy through his frozen treat business called W.O.W Ice.
W.O.W Ice is a frozen treat company based in South Florida. They manufacture and distribute a delicious frozen treat, called W.O.W Ice, it’s similar to Italian ice, but ten times better. It’s thicker than a slushy, softer than a sorbet, and way thinner than a snow cone. It's the perfect dairy, fat, cholesterol and gluten free treat. And, it’s super tasteful! However, this is bigger than business, Akyra’s soul will live on through the brand that Alex created. He wants people to fall in love with who Akyra was, and learn about the values she embodied. Her determination, drive, and passion for helping others, on and off the court, will be the underlying staple for W.O.W Ice as a family brand that everyone can be apart of. Alex and his wife are living in full color to continue the legacy Akyra left behind, and they recently launched a T-Shirt line to help spread awareness. Alex says that his late sister Akrya would always say "Wow," playfully, and it became her tagline. Alex makes sure she's never forgotten by getting the entire world to say WOW. But W.O.W Ice isn't the only way Alex keeps his sister's name alive, he is also the Founder of the Akyra Murray Memorial Game, which was featured in his Docu-Series, Sincerely, Patience." The A
He was recently married to Author, Speaker, and Founder of the Survive Then Live Foundation, Patience Murray, who survived the Orlando shooting after being shot in both legs. The Murray Family, Orlando Mass Shooting Survivor Patience & Alex Murray, were recently married on the Lincoln Financial Field on August 25th, 2019. Photos are attached.
