Remembering Art Linkletter Art Linkletter is best remembered as a humorist, for his 25 years on television and radio - and for his best-selling books. He was also a world-class swimmer and received the International Swimming Hall of Fame’s Gold Medallion Award in 1984 . But for bout of poison oak that kept him out of the 1932 Olympic Trials, this Southern California small college backstroke champion might have made the US Olympic swimming team – his times were that good. A friend of ISHOF Chairman Red Silvia and Executive Director Buck Dawson, Linkletter was frequent visitor to the Hall of Fame where he reministed about his days in swimming with old friends. Art Linkletter passed away on May 26th, 2010. He was 97 years old.
