The parishioners of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and School are happy to extend a warm welcome to the many visitors who join us for worship.
Home Sweet Home! After traveling through Europe for two weeks on pilgrimage, and then spending this past week at our two regional seminaries in South Florida, it definitely feels great to be back home!
The Marian pilgrimage was a real grace and blessing. We started in Paris and visited the chapel of the Miraculous Medal at Rue de Bac, where Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure. Then after taking in the other Parisian sights, including a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower, we took a high speed train to Lourdes. Then it was onto Santiago de Compostella to venerate the tomb of St. James the Apostle.
We concluded our pilgrimage with a visit to the shrine at Fatima and departed from Lisbon where we visited the birthplace of St. Anthony (he died in Padua but was born in Lisbon).
After a weekend back here at St. Johns, I jetted down to South Florida with Fr. Len Plazewski to visit our seminarians at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami and St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach. These visitations will be part of my work as Vocations Director, when I assume the position officially on January 1. It was good to get some on-the-job training and to spend some quality time with our seminarians. We currently have 19 men at St. Johns and 10 men at St. Vincents. Two other seminarians are currently serving at parishes in our diocese for their pastoral year. Please pray for these men and pray for more vocations to diocesan priesthood!
