Two students win HDA scholarship awards
Congratulations to Luisa Betancur and Melvin Lopez, class of 2014, who both received a Proctor & Gamble Hispanic Dental Association Scholarship Award of $1,250.

Colleges special event raises $1,200 for UF Campaign for Charities
The college’s second annual Gator Bookworms Used Media sale netted $1,265 for the UF Campaign for Charities, which raises money for nonprofit agencies in the community.

College awarded $7 million for five grants from HRSA
Faculty at the UF College of Dentistry received five grants totaling nearly $7 million to improve access to dental care from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

College welcomes eight new faculty
The University of Florida College of Dentistry welcomed eight new faculty members to the college between July 1 and August 24 in the endodontics, operative dentistry, oral biology, orthodontics and periodontology departments.

Making an impression
Thirty-five participants from under-represented minority groups across Florida got an impression of what dental school is like during the Third Annual Impressions Program on July 23, coordinated by the college SNDA chapter.

UF Student National Dental Association wins several honors
The UF College of Dentistry Chapter of the Student National Dental Association (SNDA) won Chapter of the Year and First Place in the Scrapbook Competition at the 97th NDA/SNDA Annual Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii, held on July 16-21, 2010.

Dolan completes the 2010 HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute
Teresa A. Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H., dean of the University of Florida College of Dentistry, recently graduated from the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute, held June 18-July 2 at Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.

2010 Summer Learning Program
“Do I want to be a dentist?” Ten undergraduate students from Florida colleges and universities discovered their answers to that question as part of the college’s Ninth Annual Summer Learning Program in July.
