Rabbi Fisch takes lead at Etz Chaim

Etz Chaim Synagogue welcomed new Senior Rabbi Yaakov Fisch on Aug. 20. Originally from Toronto, Fisch attended rabbinical college in Long Island followed by six years of study in Israel, where he received his rabbinic ordination. He received his bachelors in Talmudic law in Jerusalem; and his two girls were born in Israel. Fisch was searching for an opportunity to make an impact in Jewish education when in 2004 he found the opening for youth director position at Etz Chaim.

Jewish Federation of Jacksonville Mission Statement
The Jewish Federation of Jacksonville, formerly known as the Jewish Community Council, was founded in 1935 as a nonprofit 501c(3) community service organization. The purpose of the Federation is to conduct community fundraising and resource development, provide assistance with coordinated community planning, assist with problem solving and allocate Federation funds to programs and services that address Jewish needs and responsibilities consistent with the Federations and the communitys policies and priorities. Through an annual allocations process, all of the money raised by Federation is distributed fairly and equitably by a dedicated group of local lay leaders.
