What is Pilates?
Legendary physical trainer Joseph Pilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) developed The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning in 1926 as an exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk.
All movement originates from the body's center - the abdomen, buttocks and lower back that in Pilates we refer to as the Powerhouse. Pilates tunes and works your entire body, not just isolated muscle groups, providing a strong and stable torso. Exercises are done on special equipment, most use springs to provide resistance for a non-impact workout. Quality, not quantity, is emphasized.
We have moved just around the corner.
