Diabetes Screening Events
Diabetes screenings will be available, free and open to the public, Monday, Nov. 8 on the Reitz Union Colonnade and Friday, Nov. 12 in the Shands Atrium between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
Century Tower Lighting Event
Please join us and the rest of the Gator nation as we light the tower blue in recognition of World Diabetes Day on Friday, November 12th, between the hours of 5:30 pm and dusk. Several other City and County buildings and Fire and Rescue stations will also be blue.
Diabetes Fall Festival
Please join us on World Diabetes Day, Sunday, Nov. 14, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the annual Diabetes Fall Festival. There will be food, fun, crafts, costumes and prizes (consider dressing up as a pilgrim or Native American in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday).
Alachua County Public Schools Poster Contest
Can you illustrate the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes? A $100 savings bond will be given to the Alachua County middle school student who can do it the best. The winner will be announced at the Century Tower Lighting Ceremony, on Nov. 12.

The Diabetes Center of Excellence is a leader in translational research aimed at preventing and ultimately reversing type 1 diabetes. The Center is home to multiple studies and clinical trials supported by the NIH, JDRF and other funding agencies.
