Dr. Vastola was trained at an Osteopathic Medical School (Midwestern University) graduating second in his class with all post graduate training M.D. He passed his M.D. boards and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Following his Gastroenterology Fellowship he was accepted at the Mayo Clinic for three years to train in G. I. Immunology which he accepted then turned down at the last minute, because he was offered the Chief of Gastroenterology at the Deaconess Hospital.
When Dr. Vastola left this full time teaching position after five years at the University of Buffalo, he decided to relocate to Florida as an internist and Gastroenterology specialist to deliver full service care. As a result of this, his practice has grown free of restrictions by H.M. O.s into what it is today. The practice treats the whole person and offers a full range of medicine services to patients under one roof, including laboratory, X-ray, Doppler/echo studies, pulmonary function, E.K.G., aerosol therapies, O2 determinations, vein therapies, Osteopathic Manipulation, etc., etc.. This means that patients are not wasting time and money to seek out these modalities elsewhere by driving all over town and waiting.
Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week Dr. Vastola is available for any problem that may arise through an answering service which is not a recording or menu, basically M.D. V.I.P. service without the huge upfront fee. If hospitalized, Dr. Vastola will attend to your care along with the full range of gastroenterology procedures which can be done as an outpatient when you are the sickest. Hospitalists are not used which means that Dr. Vastola will always be there, not some stranger.
Lastly, Dr. Vastola uses nutritional supplements along with standard medical therapies to treat patients. For five years he has taught nutritional therapies at Palm Beach Atlantic University in the Department of Pharmacy which has recognized his interest and expertise in using them.
