Dr. John Gatewood has dedicated his practice solely to Microscopic Vasectomy Reversals. He performs vasectomy reversal surgery on patients from all over the world. He operates Monday through Friday.

Dr. Gatewood has performed vasectomy reversals on patients with vasectomies as old as 30 years with resulting pregnancies. His overall patency rate is 96%. The age of the vasectomy is not a deterrent to having a successful vasectomy reversal.

Vasectomy reversal surgery is office-based, outpatient, utilizing IV sedation supplemented with local anesthesia, resulting in a procedure which is pain free.
Dr. Gatewood performs both vasectomy reversal and Vasoepididymostomy, in the same setting when indicated. This gives each patient the best opportunity for pregnancy.
Dr. Gatewood has extensive experience in redoing failed vasectomy reversals that were performed by other doctors.
Dr. Gatewood utilizes a Zeiss Operating Microscope which has the capability of enlarging an object 40 times its size. He uses a special Zeiss Microsurgical Chair, one of 2 in the United States, which is ergonomically correct. Dr. Gatewood uses 10-0 nylon microsurgical sutures with a 70 micron needle to perform an inner layer to exactly align the lumen of the vas. He then uses a 9-0 nylon suture to close the outer muscular wall of the vas for a second layer..
