Acme Bicycle Wants to be Your Bicycle Shop!
Karen and Earl are the owners of Acme Bicycle Shops and want to get to know every bicycle rider in S.W. Florida. We are avid riders, and believe in bicycling as a sport, exercise, social activity and as a serious means of transportation.
Karen likes to tour and leads a women only tour every year. Her typical tour is around 400 miles and lasts for 6 days. You may have met one of her "Wheelin Women". You will recognize them by their enthusiasm for bicycle touring in small groups and many of the ladies repeat each year.
Earl has toured with groups of all sizes. From 400 riders to 1 rider, but his favorite tour group is one. He enjoys the quiet and freedom of travelling solo. Alone he finds that he takes time to meet new friends and stops to enjoy the view anytime he wants. Earl is a member of the League of American Bicyclists and a League Certified Instructor.
Earl (with Karen's support) is a strong advocate for bicycling and bicycle safety. He has travelled to Washington DC to attend the National Bicycle Summit, and to Tallahassee for the first annual State Bicycle Summit. He is a Board member of the Florida Bicycle Association. Locally, Earl is the Vice Chairman of the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee(BPAC) to the Municiple Planning Organization (MPO) and currently chairs the TEAM Punta Gorda "Spokes and Trails Event Committee".
