Lake Nona Medical City
GEC provided the geotechnical engineering services for the Sanford/Burnham Medical Research Institute which opened its doors on October 8, 2009. The Burnham is the anchor tenant for the Lake Nona Medical City, located southeast of the Orlando International Airport. GEC provided construction materials testing services for the Medical City roadway infrastructure including Veterans Way, Nemours Parkway East and Exploration Way. In addition GEC provided both geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for Osceola County’s Narcoossee Road widening, which will serve as the southern gateway to the Medical City.

GEC environmental consulting services include contamination assessments, environmental drilling (direct-push), petroleum and hazardous waste remediation services, brownfields redevelopment and air quality compliance. In addition GEC offers ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys and construction materials testing services. GEC Land Development services include support for the DRI application process, groundwater modeling, and site preparation including utilities, roadway and infrastructure master planning.
Recent GEC projects include The Sanford/Burnham Medical Research Institute at Lake Nona, The Plaza, Central Florida Commuter Rail, the University of Central Florida (UCF) Convocation Center, the new Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) Administration LEEDS- certified Headquarters Building as well as the award-winning Avatar 300-acre residential development Bellalago in Osceola County.
GEC continues to expand its geophysical engineering services to include the unexploded ordnance (UXO) investigations in the vicinity of former military facilities. Most recently GEC has utilized UXO exploration to help determine future land use applications near Odyssey Middle School in southeast Orange County.
