Some visitors enjoy sharing the pleasures of camping with their dogs or cats. To ensure that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience, KOA has established some guidelines.
Before You Go:
Call ahead. Check with the campground about its specific pet policies. Some don't allow pets in Kamping Kabins, for example, or may have limited pet units. Others don't accept particular breeds that insurance providers have identified as having a history of aggression.
Bring your helper. Service dogs are welcomed at all KOA Kampgrounds. (Leash and aggressive behavior rules apply.)
When You Arrive:
Good behavior is required. Dogs of any breed that are hostile or aggressive will be asked to leave the campground, along with their owners.
Bring the leash. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than 6 feet when outside their owners' vehicles or rental units. Do not leave a tethered dog unattended.
Remember manners. Constant barking bothers other campers. If your pet is too vocal, you'll need to find other accommodations.

The largest KOA, Okeechobee teems with fun-filled amenities for families and entire rally groups and reunions. This tropical vacation resort features its own palm-fringed nine-hole golf course, driving range and putting green. Play tennis on four courts. Flex your muscles at the fitness center or soak in a pool: one for families, another for kids and a third for adults only. Fishing on Lake Okeechobee is a lure-and so is the campground's social calendar filled with parades and parties. Join a Full Moon Bike Ride. Enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities, free Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas decorating contest. Swap fish stories over a cold one at the Shanty Lounge. Golf cart and boat rentals are now available. Every day is special in paradise.

Wendy Woodman, manager of the Okeechobee KOA Kampground, works with the staff to "make sure guests feel welcome and know we are "expecting" them. I want my guests to feel like they are "coming home" to a friendly and safe environment."
Wendy has the experience to know what her guests want. She and her husband Lee owned and operated a specialty food service business in a Southern California ski resort town until 1996, when they retired to pursue a dream of seeing the country in an RV. "As fulltime RVers, our love of the lifestyle and the people we met on the road were the catalysts that persuaded us to pursue opportunities in the camping and hospitality industry as a post-retirement career," says Wendy.
Since 2003, they have consistently been honored with the KOA President's Award and in 2008 and 2009 the campground also received a KOA Founder's Award KOA's top honor.

Wendy was recognized as the 2005 KOA Company-Owned Property Manager of the Year, but shares the achievement with her team. "I am especially proud of my staff. They work very hard, take pride in their work and make our guests feel special by providing great customer service."
"We have very special guests and employees who embrace the fundraising efforts of KOA for KOA Care Camps, which provide special summer camps for kids with cancer. The support from our local community patrons, seasonal guests and staff has consistently placed us as top achievers in this fundraising drive. 'People working together for a great cause' doesn't get better than here at Okeechobee KOA," says Wendy.
Exploring the back roads of Florida on their Gold Wing motorcycle is one of Wendy and Lee's favorite pastimes, as is relaxing and enjoying their own courtyard garden.
