What's it the Bomboniera (Italian Favor)
The wedding favor is a precious symbol of thanks, a gift to make the indelible memory of an event so dear and unforgettable.Which is why there is baptism without Favor, there is no marriage without a wedding favor, there is no graduation party Favor ... so there is no self-respecting party Favor.
But when did the custom of giving wedding favors or rather when and where did the Favor?
First it must be said that the meaning of Favor lies in its history: The term comes from the French Favor "bombonnire" and it seems to give birth to the idea of wedding favors which object attached to a bridal event was just the France of 700. In France, indeed, was the custom of giving the couple a small but precious box of bonbons, or the sublime delicacy.
Valuable and more sought after than ever not only for working but also for valuable materials (pearl, gold, ivory) wedding favors were much appreciated at the court of Louis XIV Goethe in 1792, gave a box of delicious sweets to woman who would become his wife.Napoleon himself to the top 800 was fascinated to the point of a gift as a token of gratitude.
But before that meant 700 had this precious little box?
The Favor of the first 700, or before joining officially traditional wedding was considered just a box lucky or auspicious.
In Italy in 1400 was already a widespread tradition that the bride and groom and their families on the occasion of engagement to exchange precious baskets filled with confetti. Not only that, the tradition was that the bridegroom should also give his bride a "cup amateur" or a pottery bowl with the woman's face depicted ol'effigie a pregnant rabbit next to the name of the bride, strictly filled with confetti. In addition, to make sure a marriage fruitful and prosperous future spouses would have to drink from the same cup.
In 1500, England was widespread "Sweetmeat box or boxes made of precious materials door confetti with the meaning of good fortune.
Historical sources reveal that during the New Year of 1574, Queen Elizabeth I was gifted a number of favors as a good omen for the new year. And not only ... but many of her ladies loved to taste the sweets jealously guarded in prestigious caskets.
The early eighteenth-century masterpieces of this wonderful art in miniature are today kept in the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, in the Museum of Porcelain to shower or even in the International Museum of Ceramics of Nove.
The wedding favor has acquired over the years, thanks to the skills of famous masters course, a specific connotation that it becomes art, especially in Italian culture, an integral part of the ceremonies which deserve to be reconsidered in time, all over the world.
