Leon A. Bynoe, M.D. graduated from Brown University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He subequently attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, earning his Doctorate of Medicine degree in 1991. During medical school Dr. Bynoe was awarded a Pre-doctoral Research Fellowship from Johns Hopkins to perform scientific research that resulted in multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
After an internship in Internal Medicine, Dr. Bynoe completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Barnes Hospital/Washington University at St. Louis Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in 1995. He returned to Johns Hopkins to complete a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute in 1997. After two years in private practice in Baltimore, Dr. Bynoe moved to South Florida in 1999 and later became a partner in a retina practice. In August 2004, Dr. Bynoe founded Retina Associates of Coral Springs, P.A., the first truly “paperless” Retina practice in South Florida employing Electronic Medical Records and fully-digital retinal imaging technology.

Dr. Bynoe is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has authored numerous articles on diseases of the retina in peer-reviewed journals and has presented original research at several international scientific meetings. Married since 1985, Dr. Bynoe and his wife, Tamora Carter Bynoe, M.D. have two children. An avid runner since 1982, Dr. Bynoe also enjoys playing and listening to music, and learning Spanish.

RACS is a fully digital “paperless” retinal practice. All patient charts and documents are digital files that are backed up every day on multiple data storage tapes. All imaging studies (such as retinal photographs) are digital and can be viewed on any computer display monitor in or outside of the office, e-mailed to patients and other physicians, or printed.
All patient demographic and clinical information is immediately entered into computers that are located in every room. Even multi-colored retinal drawings are “paperless” as they are drawn into the system using portable Tablet PC computers. Finally, Dr. Bynoe can access all of this information from any DSL internet connection and can quickly deliver this information anywhere via e-mail, fax, or regular mail.
