Welcome to our website! Nature's Edge Assisted Living, Port St. Lucie’s premier assisted living facility, was established in 1997 when Port Saint Lucie was reminiscent of the smaller neighborhoods which many seniors were raised. Neighbors would smile and wave at familiar faces as children played among the trees and foliage that permeated the landscape. Our goal then was simple...offer outstanding and personalized assisted living services in an environment that reminds the residents of their home. Well, Port Saint Lucie has grown enormously since then. The neighborhoods have gotten bigger, the roads wider and major shopping and eating establishments are only minutes away; but our simple philosophy has remained the same. As such, Nature's Edge continues to be a premier residence in Port Saint Lucie and we have been extremely fortunate to add many smiling faces of residents and family members to our list of satisfied clients.

Nature's Edge Assisted Living staff members are trained to provide professional and compassionate care to all of our residents. Each team member is carefully screened and undergoes a thorough background check to ensure that only the best become a part of the Nature's Edge Assisted Living family providing compassionate care to the seniors in our home.
Assisted Living Facility Accommodations
Nature's Edge Assisted Living has the capacity to house thirty-three (33) residents, each of whom quickly adapt to our family-style setting in either private or semi-private comfort. We offer two levels of care: Independent and Assisted Living. Our team members encourage independence; but assist when needed to preserve the dignity of those trusted in our care. There are no "up-charges" for these additional services as we feel there should be no surprises when it comes to living within your budget.
The comfort of our residents remains a priority. Our furnishings resemble those found at luxurious resorts. Upon entering the main French doors you are surrounded by the warm tones of cherry wood furniture, golden lighting and a baby-grand piano. Peering in from the over-sized bay window is our "Mistress of the Well" fountain which provides a calming backdrop for the three meals served daily in our dining room.
A basic furniture package is included as a part of your stay. This includes: twin bed frame with mattress, night stand and shared dresser (in semi-private rooms). We encourage residents and family members to personalize their areas with family photos, reasonable amounts of personable possessions and treasured mementos.
Our peaceful surroundings provide indoor and outdoor areas to meet and socialize or our residents may choose to spend some quiet time enjoying the reflecting pond, covered patio or in-house library. The TV room features a large flat-screened television used for community access to cable programming or to take part in one of the favorite resident activities: the "movie-and-popcorn" weekend matinée.
Terms to guide you through your choices:
Adult Day Care - Adult Day Care offers programs for the well-being of adults who have functional impairments. It provides a setting where services are provided on a less than 24 hour basis during a facility’s operating hours. Many provide a variety of activities to keep the residents occupied and to stimulate the senses. Adult day care can also provide relief for primary care givers so they may tend to personal affairs or receive a break from full-time care giver responsibilities. Using this option also provides a familiar setting in the event that the need for permanent residency becomes a necessity.
Adult Family Care Homes (AFCH) - An adult family-care home provides a full-time, family style living arrangement – often in private residences – for up to five people who are not related to the owner. The owner lives in the same setting as the residents. A person can only become a resident of an AFCH only if certain functional criteria are met, such as being able to perform the activities of daily living (ADL’s)(with supervision or assistance) like eating, walking, and toileting. Residents cannot be bedridden, cannot require 24-hour nursing supervision, cannot have stage 3 or 4 pressure sores, and other criteria as described by Florida law. The AFCH provides housing, meals and snacks, personal services, and can provide for nursing services when needed.
Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) – An assisted living facility provides housing and one or more personal services for residents who are not related to the facility owners. A person can only become a resident of an ALF only if certain functional criteria are met, such as being able to perform the activities of daily living (with supervision or assistance) like eating, walking, and toileting. Residents cannot be bedridden, cannot require 24-hour nursing supervision, cannot have stage 3 or 4 pressure sores, and other criteria as described by Florida law. The ALF often offers health monitoring, assistance with medication, and offers social and leisure activities.
Continuing – Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) – Continuing-care retirement communities offer different levels of care including independent apartments or homes, skilled nursing units in an affiliated nursing home, and in some cases assisted living services. A CCRC resident may move from one setting to another based upon their needs, but they continue to remain a part of the CCRC community. Charges usually vary depending on the needs of the resident
Home Health Agencies – These agencies provide services in private homes, ALF’s and AFCH’s. Services often include nursing care, physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapies, home health aide services, homemaker and companion services and medical equipment and supplies.
Hospice – Hospice provides a coordinated program of professional services, including pain control and counseling for patients with a diagnosis of a terminal condition. Hospice provides nursing, physician, social work, pastoral services, nutritional and bereavement counseling for terminally ill patients and their families. The staff is trained to assist the patient and family members who must deal with the dying process.
Nursing Homes – A nursing home provides nursing care, personal care, custodial care, and rehabilitative care to persons who are ill or recovering after surgery. Many types of medical services can be provided in a nursing home setting that are not available in ALF’s or AFCH’s. Residents in nursing homes can require a greater level of medical care than what is permitted in other residence options.

Senior Living FAQ

A: An assisted living facility is for someone who cannot, or does not want to live alone anymore. An assisted living facility provides its residents with the companionship of others and offers help with daily activities such as meals, cleaning and medical care.

A: More than a million Americans live in assisted living facilities. A variety of different people live in assisted living facilities, although the majority are women over the age of 80.

A: In the state of Florida, the Agency for Healthcare Administartion (AHCA) regulates and enforces the laws pertaining to assisted living. Licensed facilities are regularly inspected and must have valid certifications posted and inspection reports available for review.

A: All rooms at Nature's Edge Assisted Living come pre-furnished with wall-to-wall carpeting and window blinds. A basic furniture package includes a twin bed mattress with frame and headboard, nightstand and a shared dresser (in a semi private room). Residents in private rooms may choose to provide their own furniture that reflects their specific taste and style. Reasonable personal mementos and pictures are encouraged to personalize the area.
Q: Can I have guests dine with me?

A: Yes, we encourage guests to come and dine with our residents whenever possible. If you have a guest who would like to dine with you, please inform administration within a reasonable period of time so we may accommodate your request. A moderate charge for guest meals can be paid just before or after the meal.
Q: Are cable TV hook-ups available in the rooms?

A: Yes. Cable jacks are available in all rooms; however the resident must provide his or her own television. Residents in a semi-private room are expected to share a television.

A: Yes. The parking lot for residents and visitors is conveniently located just outside the main entrance. Handicapped parking spaces are available if needed. There is local shopping and many restaurants just minutes away.
