Robin Saenger's love affair with glass and light and color began as a love of beauty. The natural beauty of glass eventually became the focus of her art; architectural glass.
During her 27 year career as a studio artist, Robin has designed hundreds of art glass creations; stained glass and carved glass, the finest hand bevels, and sandblasted and painted details. Robin's preferred glass is a full antique German glass manufactured by Lambert's Glass Company. She finds that the colors are sublime whether in transparent, vibrant hues, or muted and more subtle ones.
Whether the creations are site specific, or not, they are unique expressions of that place where fine craft meets artistic inspiration. Some projects become personal shields for clients, and many are designs incorporating symbolic and artistic details that resonate with each individual. Robin draws from a deep well of inspiration, and one of the most exciting moments for her is the initial unveiling of the design.
Recently, Robin has taken a new direction; combining metal and glass. She provides her clients a welcome alternative from the ordinary, mass produced metal products so sadly prevalent in what might otherwise be a spectacularly beautiful structure or setting. An entry gate, interior metal screen, room divider, or stairway, often enmeshed with stunning glass details and crystals, transforms a living space into a gallery with functional and beautiful art.
Her preferred method of working with a client is to have an initial meeting to discuss possibilities and project needs. Next, site specifications and budget concerns are addressed. Once the design is finalized and approved, she can proceed with the project herself, and her team of excellent craftspeople, or provide designs and specifications for another fabrication team to complete. By working closely with each project from inspiration to installation she sees her visionary design sense manifest into reality. Her desire is that, project by project, through her expertise and artistic gift, the world becomes a more lovely, harmonious and beautiful place.
