SSHP is a law website with diverse information, dedicated to its readers’ needs.

In February 2005, I purchased a washer and dryer from an appliance dealer in my town. According to the terms of the purchase on the GE Money Bank account I opened, I was to pay for 24 months with 0 percent interest. The $1060.05 cost was divided into 24 payments of $45 each. Because I did not want to be late with my payments, I set up an automatic payment from my bank of $45 to arrive before the due date.
In March 2006, GE Money Bank changed the due date to an earlier date and then charged me a late fee and 26.99 percent interest because my payment did not arrive by the new date. I have attempted to resolve the situation through telephone calls to customer service representatives at GE Money Bank without success. At one point I was put on hold for more than 20 minutes and then cut off. I think the action was deliberate.

I borrowed on a deferred interest account to have some eye surgery. Upon final payment there was an error with the EFT, and the company did not let me know until after the promotional period had expired so they could sock me with nearly $800 in Finance Charges.
I have an e-mail stating that the payment was received along with a screen-shot of their website indicating that they received my payment, but to no avail. Calls to them were unsuccessful. I paid the amount owed as soon as I found out about the problem, and asked if they would waive the finance charge, but they refused!

Hi, this is with regards to the frustration undergone by my dad, GE Money offered my dad a credit card worth 50K (INR), every month my dad paid the due in time, there has been lots of process failure in the collection dept, most of the time the checks dropped on the dropping locations are not been transacted which is absolutely a fault from the banks end, we finally ended up paying the late payment fee and use to get call s from local collection agencies (in Chennai, India), added to this is the pickup charges by the collection agencies, is that our fault. Received financing through Sears Home Improvement through GE Money Bank in April 2006. Loan amount was 9,630.00 monthly payments 148.00 which none were applied to the principal for some unknown reason. On 8/7/06 sent the amount in full per my payment coupon which would have paid the account off. GE stated no such payment received, 2 weeks later the check was returned to me with a letter from them stating more interest due. In the meantime while this check was missing, I stopped payment and federal express another one on 9/4/06 signed for by GE on 9/5/06, On 9/7/06 guess what GE said they never received that one either. Eventually I got the BBB involved and eventually got this loan paid off I think. More…

So I scheduled some online payments for my credit card because I was going away for a trip to Europe. I come home to receive a phone call from them. They tell me I’ve missed payments for the last 2 months. I tell them this is baloney and that I had scheduled it and that they screwed up. The guy on the phone took my payment for the 2 months I missed, waived my late fees, and told me that it shouldn’t affect my 0% apr promotion. Next month, I get a bill with a 26% APR and a 409 dollar finance charge. I call them and complain naturally. They told me they would put me on hold to speak to a supervisor, but instead drop my call. I called back and not only did I have to explain my entire story to them, but they lied to me yet again. They told me that once I’m late, the promotion terminates and there is nothing I can do about it. I told them that if the last person had told me that, I would have paid off the balance in its entirety and would not have left it sitting there with a 26% finance rate. So they said “ok, there’s nothing we can do about it now. if you can pay off the balance by the your due date this month, we’ll waive your finance fees.” I figured that was a fair settlement. More…
