Smiths Optical Services, LLC was opened in the early 80s by Joe Smith after leaving the Navy and Marine Corp. He owned various optical shops associated with several doctor's offices and has since downsized to the one Inverness location. Joe retired September, 2006 when Jan Metcalf and her husband Tom, took over ownership. Jan (Marjorie A. Metcalf) has been licensed since 1997 after a four year apprenticeship under Joe Smith. Jan worked for Joe approximately 16 years before he sold the shop to her. Jan and Tom Metcalf continue Joe Smith's vision of providing quality eyewear services with hometown care.
We hope you will stop by and visit our quaint shop in the Olde Town Inverness Area. We are located in the same building with Professional Hearing Center and next door to the Flower Shop, up the hill on South Apopka from Walgreens and the fire station. Our parking is in the back of the building.
