Florida Emerald Coast Beach Wedding Photography & Beach Portraits
Florida's Emerald Coast is a perfect place for your destination wedding or family beach portrait. The Emerald Coast stretches along a chain of 24 miles of white sands and emerald-green water with constantly shifting sand called the barrier islands. The sea oats and sand dunes of Florida's Emerald Coast make a gorgeous backdrop for your beach wedding photography or family beach portraits. It stretches from Sandestin, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Navarre Beach, Pensacola Beach, to Perdido Key and Orange Beach, Alabama. Much of the area is protected by the Gulf Islands National Seashore as well as state parks which are scattered throughout the coast. It is a shell collector's paradise with its many miles of unbroken pristine beach. Photographers like myself, love spending the last hour of light out on the beach photographing the sun setting with its vibrant reflected colors at the water edge.
Destin, Florida Beach Wedding Photography
Destin Beach in known across the country for its emerald green water, its world class fishing and as a beautiful location for a destination wedding or family beach portraits. Destin is on a peninsula separating the Gulf of Mexico from Choctawhatchee Bay. Many bridal parties rent a condo or home on Destin Beach and spend the week there fishing, relaxing and finish the week off with the beach wedding and reception. Destin Beach vacationers also like to cap off their week by scheduling a family beach portrait session to remember their stay.
We wanted to say thank you for the gorgeous wedding pictures and movie. We appreciate the role that you played in making our wedding day happen. Because of you, it will be a day we will never forget! The DVD was a huge hit at the reception."
Pensacola Beach, Florida Wedding Photography
A great place for your Pensacola beach destination wedding and reception is the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front. Pensacola Beach's pier is the longest fishing pier on the Gulf Coast and the view at sunset is awesome. If you have some time before your beach wedding, check out Quietwater Beach Boardwalk on the sound side of Pensacola Beach. It is a great place to spend an evening browsing the various shops and restaurants after your day on the beach. Another great location along Pensacola Beach is on the far eastern edge past the Portifino Condominiums complex. There are two beach areas that are secluded but with large parking areas to facilitate a good size wedding party as well as guest parking. Just drive east along Pensacola Beach until the houses, condos and finally Portifino ends. A couple more miles down the beach will take you to the day beach area which is on the gulf side of Santa Rosa Island. I have photographed and produced videos for many bridal couples in this area. It has always been a great beach wedding location.
What Is A Wedding Photojournalist? My goal as a wedding photojournalist is to capture the fleeting emotional moments of the wedding day, such as the joy when the bride's mother presents her daughter with her bridal flowers or a family heirloom to wear on her wedding day or to capture the love showing in her father's face when he sees her in her wedding gown. Photography used in an unobtrusive style and capturing candid moments without interrupting the flow of the wedding day journey is the formula for making magical photographic images.
I developed much of my photojournalistic style while photographing for several years as a freelance photographer for the St. Petersburg Times (view clip). With numerous images published by the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press and various national and international news, trade and consumer magazines, I then started using my photojournalistic experience in the arena of wedding photography. Using this photojournalistic shooting style, your destination wedding is photographed in a creative narrative fashion that weaves the story of your wedding day. (Photo on the left is Pavarotti singing at the Sun Dome on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa.)
Unlike your bridal flowers or the caterers wonderfully prepared delicacies, your wedding photographs are designed to last a lifetime. Years from now, when you reminiscence about how you exchanged your wedding rings, the tenderness of the priceless moments you shared as a bride and groom will be tangible in the beautiful photographs you possess in your wedding album. Capturing timeless images in a photojournalist, contemporary style is my goal.

Beach Portraits Along Florida's Gulf Coast
Whether you are spending a week with the family on one of Florida's panhandle beaches, or relaxing for a weekend in one of the many condo rentals along sun-kissed Orange Beach, Alabama, you will want to look back upon those carefree tropical days and remember them with a gorgeous sunset beach portrait. There is a beautiful location on the western end of Perdido Key that makes a perfect spot for a family beach portrait. The rolling sea-oat covered dunes make a great tropical background for those special family beach portraits which you will want to show off to friends and relatives when you get back home. The images will be available for you to view and order on the web with password protection. For more information and to take a look at a few more sample images, go to our beach portraits page. Many of these images were taken on Destin Beach.
Beach Portraits On Perdido Key, Florida & Orange Beach, Alabama
Perdido Key beach is a wonderful location for family beach portraits or your destination wedding for that matter. The Florida - Alabama state line actually splits the island down the middle with the Flora Bama Lounge sitting right on top of that state line. The Key is home to many festivals and the annual Mullet Toss Contest where participants try their luck at seeing who can toss a mullet, a type of fish, the farthest. Perdido Key is part of a 16 mile long barrier island in Northwest Florida and Alabama of which about 60 percent is made up of federal and state parks. The sea oats and sand dunes of Perdido Key make a gorgeous background for your beach wedding or family beach portraits. Johnson Beach, located on the eastern end of Perdido Key, is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Perdido Key ends on the western edge at the Perdido Pass Bridge in Alabama. This western edge is one of the areas most gorgeous spots to photograph family beach portraits with the undulating dunes and waves of sea oats. Across the Perdido Pass lies Orange Beach, Alabama.
