Making a Difference in the Gulf
The effects of the BP oil spill are quickly developing in our community. The consequences of this disaster will not only be exposed through our beaches and wildlife, but in the hearts and lives of all those among us. Our economy will soon settle face to face with some of the Panhandles most trying times as we continue to recover from the damaging effects of this manmade disaster.
Florida State Employees Federal Credit Union is joining the many other local businesses and efforts in the Pensacola area to help clean up our Gulf. With each new account opened, FSEFCU will match the members initial deposit as a donation to the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida. *Our credit union would also like to extend the opportunity for all current members to give matching donations made to the oil spill relief.
The Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida is teaming up with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Tri-State Bird Rescue to coordinate the necessary recovery efforts in our area. The Wildlife Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that works to provide the proper care for injured or orphaned indigenous wildlife, offering adequate medical care and fostering during wildlife recovery.
The Wildlife Sanctuary is actively seeking TRAINED volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, you may visit their website at pensacolawildlife.com.
*Contributions matched by FSEFCU may not exceed $100. Subject to terminate at any time.

Florida State Employees Federal Credit Union originated in 1961 with seven charter members. Business was conducted from an office located in the Florida State Employment Service building at 236 West Garden Street, and its first manager was Mr. Roscoe Manning. The credit union's field of membership covered employees of the state agencies in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and later added Okaloosa and Walton counties to the field of membership.
In 1973, the credit union purchased property and constructed an office at 305 West Gregory Street, at which time Mrs. Marie Courtney took over as manager. Upon her retirement, the West Gregory Street office was named the Marie Courtney Building. In 1986, the credit union amended its charter to include the University of West Florida Alumni and later added the students of UWF into its field of membership.
In 1996, the credit union built another office on East Nine Mile Road, which is now our home office.
The credit union has grown from $200,000 in assets in 1961 to $25 million at present and is still growing. Our hard-working and dedicated staff of employees, along with the board of directors members and the supervisory committee members, is proud to serve more than 3,600 credit union members.
Our philosophy has not changed. We are still a credit union based on "people helping people." Let us help you today.
