Old World French Polishing, Inc. is a company involved in the restoration and French polishing of fine antiques and antique furniture sales.
The focus of our work is on maintaining artistic value and utilizing the finest traditions of European technique and craftsmanship. The owner of the company, Mr. Diego Valotti, has over twenty years experience in the field of antique restoration and French polishing, in both Italy and the United States. He started at the age of fifteen working as an apprentice in his uncle's shop. The skills Mr. Valotti has acquired have been obtained through hands-on experience under the instruction of various Italian craftsmen. After approximately ten years Mr. Valotti developed his own business and clientele. His clientele have included Gianni Versace, Luigi Innocenti, Sergio Biemmi, Mobili E. Arredi, and the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art among many others.
The technical aspects of restoration involve the use of precious woods treated in a way as to preserve their antique value. Mr. Valotti uses only natural adhesives and the polishing is done in such a way as to preserve the original colors and tonalities of the wood. His finishing is done using natural products.
"Old World French Polishing" is a direct importer of 15th through 19th century antiques. Our exquisite pieces are collected through the families of European Nobility.
