Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a denomination founded in 1936 by missions-minded Presbyterians committed to the inspiration of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, and the mandate to go into all the world with the gospel. Calvary OPC was started in 1974 by a handful of folk desiring a church reformed in doctrine and worship. Reformed churches trace their roots to the Protestant Reformation and its four great affirmations: Scripture alone, grace alone, faith alone, and Christ alone. In these four statements, we acknowledge how we know God, how He befriends us, how we can please Him, and how He saves us from sin and its eternal consequences.
Today, in two Lord’s Day morning services at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m., and one Lord’s Day evening service at 6:00 p.m., over 170 people gather to sing Psalms and hymns to God’s glory, hear His Word read and expounded from the Old and New Testaments, and pray for the influence of the gospel among us and beyond. This worship is the high point of our Christian life and service.
