Celebrated every year October 6-12, National PA Week is intended to celebrate and recognize the significant impact PAs have made and continue to make in the health care community. Edward R. Jackson, II, M.D.
Dr. Jackson will be practicing Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic Professional Office Building at TMH beginning September 8, 2010.
He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and completed his orthopedic residency at the Baylor College of Medicine. Following his residency, Dr. Jackson served an Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine Fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine. Additionally, he is a member the American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Association and National Medical Association. Dr. Jackson was a nominee for the Young Distinguish Physician Award at University South School of Medicine and member and past president of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society, University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
Hector Mejia, M.D.
Dr. Mejia will be practicing Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic (main office) beginning September 2, 2010.
Dr. Mejia, is accepting referrals for orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
He earned his undergraduate degree from The Florida State University and his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. Following his medical degree and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Colorado Dr. Mejia and Orthopedic and Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh of Pittsburgh, PA.. Prior to joining TOC, Dr. Mejia served as a Clinical Instructor for the VA Denver Medical Center, Anatomy Instructor for the Denver OT Association and Gross Anatomy Teaching Assistant at FSU. Dr. Mejia has an extensive extracurricular career serving on orthopaedic academic councils as well as in underserved communities globally.
Reconstructive Surgery Provided to Wounded Warrior by Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic Surgeon and The Iraq Star Foundation
A Staff Sergeant wounded by an IED explosion in the Iraq war received surgery this month from a TOC physician. The Iraq Star Foundation, comprised of 235 Board Certified Reconstructive/Plastic Surgeons in 42 states, provides reconstructive surgery to wounded and disfigured warriors of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Iraq Star contacted Dr. Borom to see if he would become an Iraq Star Volunteer Surgeon. TOC, with the assistance of TOSC, provided surgery, operating room, and anesthesia.
WCTV featured a segment about how TOC came through for one of our war heroes. The segment aired, Thursday, August 19 on the 6:00 pm news with Julie Montanaro and featured Dr. Borom.
D. Jason Oberste, M.D.
Dr. Oberste will be practicing Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic (main office) beginning August 16, 2010.
Dr. Oberste, board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is accepting referrals for general orthopedics, joint replacement and joint reconstruction, and sports medicine.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and completed his orthopedic residency at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, Wilford Hall Medical Center. Following his residency, Dr. Oberste completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship in the Orthopedic Surgery Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Additionally, he is a Fellow and member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is a member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Oberste joins TOC after an extensive surgical career with the United States Air Force where he served as Chief of Surgery with the USAF Special Operations Surgical Team and as Staff Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Sean Sullivan, a San Francisco-based psychologist, graduated from Harvard University in 1996. He subsequently earned a Doctorate of Psychology from Florida School of Professional Psychology.
