What is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon?
The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) website can be accessed at the bottom of each page of our site... just click on the logo.
Drs. Rawson, Braxton and Chicola specialize in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The term "oral" refers to the structures in the mouth. The term "maxillofacial" refers to the jaws and face. Dr. Rawson, Dr. Braxton, and Dr. Chicola have been specifically trained to treat conditions that occur in these areas.
Advanced specialty training has prepared Drs. Rawson, Braxton and Chicola to provide a broad range of patient care. The most common procedures performed in our practice include: removal of wisdom teeth or other diseased teeth, surgical correction of improperly aligned jaws, implant replacement of missing teeth, removal of bony and soft tissue tumors, treatment of broken facial /jaw bones and other facial injuries, treatment of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) problems, and treatment of dental and maxillofacial infections. They are also trained and certified in administration of intravenous sedation and general anesthesia, which is often used in the office to ensure the patient's comfort.
