“[Advent] is an invitation to understand that the individual events of the day are hints that God is giving us signs of the attention he has for each one of us.”
- HOMILY OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI Vatican Basilica Saturday, 28 November 2009
I am happy to welcome Fr. Daniel McCaffrey back to St. Lawrence. Fr. McCaffrey preached our Missionary Co-op three years ago. He returns this week to preach our Advent Mission entitled, “A New Parish Mission for the Family.” This is an excellent opportunity to grow in our faith as well as prepare ourselves for Christmas. The Mission will run Monday, November 29 through Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 7:00 – 9:00 each evening. Please plan to attend and bring a friend. This promises to be a mission you will not want to miss and one that we will long remember.
We begin the Advent season this weekend. This is a time that each of us should take to prepare our hearts and lives to receive Jesus. I encourage you to have an Advent wreath for your home dinner table. I will be including the wreath prayers in our bulletin for the weeks of Advent. We will be blessing Advent wreaths today at Mass. If you did not bring your Advent wreath, I have included a blessing prayer below for the home.
Respectfully yours in Christ,
Fr. Tom Morgan
