The Center for Radiation Oncology (CRO) was founded in 1993 in Brandon, Florida by Dr. Kathryn Kepes. In an effort to better serve the needs of the community, she soon opened four other centers. CRO now operates practices in Brandon, Sun City Center, Tampa, and Zephyrhills, as well as the Plant City Cancer Treatment Center in Plant City.
CRO offers the latest treatment for all types of cancers, and is using techniques such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), high dose radiation (HDR), including MammoSite and interstitial breast brachytherapy, 3-D conformal treatment planning, and prostate seed implants. MammoSite and breast brachytherapy both decrease the time for radiation to the breast after a lumpectomy from 6 weeks to 5 days.
CRO is known for its emphasis on patient care as well as the expected technical expertise. Personalized information packets, individualized teaching sessions, and working with all physicians involved with the patient provides the patient with well-coordinated as well as exceptional oncologic care. We are active in the community, offering lectures and are primary sponsors for Fortaleza y Esperanza (Cancer Support Group for the Hispanic Community), Team Survivor Tampa Bay (Pink Dragon Ladies), Sisters Network (National African American Breast Cancer Survivorship Organization), and various American Cancer Society projects, such as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Reach to Recovery, and the Annual Breast Cancer Fashion Show and Luncheon.
To provide state-of-the-art radiation therapy in a community setting, emphasizing innovative technology in a comfortable and supportive patient oriented environment.
