Hi there! Wasnt the Devotion great today?!! I think you look better every single week! Every week I sit down and write this with just you in mind! It is a small part of my personal commitment to do whatever it takes to help you become a fully-devoted and functioning follower of Jesus! Thanks for all you are doing to help us work together to serve Gods Purpose! On THURSDAY (11/18) in the Upper Room Devotional Guide we heard Jesus tell us, I am the bread of life! No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again! (John 6:35) There are some statistics for Brevard County that tell us that those in our community requiring basic groceries assistance has risen123% since 2007! Those same statistics show the folks who are classified as food insecure have risen from 33,000 in 2007 to more than 60,000 now! All this is in our County of over 536,000 people! Those in our Community requiring/receiving Food Stamps has risen from 26,482 in 2007 to over 60,000 today! That means that 1 in 10 people in our county need help meeting the basic food needs of their household! Into this situation comes Jesus saying, No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again! We must make sure that folks connect with Jesus and not just the helping agency! Did you know that every Thursday our amazing Office Management TEAM passes out 12-14 bags of grocery items to those in our community whose pantries are lacking? Did you know that over the course of a whole year we pass on over 10,000 pounds of food to our hungry neighbors? Did you know that on Wednesday, November 17 our Kitchen Ministry TEAM put together and passed along 100-110 Thanksgiving Baskets including a great looking Turkey? Did you know the every single Monday morning a TEAM of caring folks gather in our Kitchen to prepare a luncheon that is picked up and served by our local Salvation Army? Did you know that every 3 months a TEAM of caring folks prepare a supper developed in our kitchen and delivered for distribution at the Gibson Center right here in Titusville? Did you know that these same kinds of folks and functions happen all over our community in congregation after congregation! Jesus dresses up to look just like Indian River City Church and says, No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again! We make sure that folks connect with Jesus and not just the local congregation! NNNNNNOOOOOWWWWWWWWmany of these folks come week after week, month after month to seek and receive this much-needed assistance! Why? Because we all get hungry again and again! Thats normal! Physically we all hunger! Emotionally we all hunger! Mentally we all hunger! This is why it is so important that we connect every person with the one who says, No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again! Jesus offers living water to every thirsty person and promises that we will never thirst again (John 4:13-15)! That doesnt mean we wont want something to drink ever again! It means much more than that! Jesus offers life that is more abundant (John 10:10) than any life we are experiencing! The reality is that we all have a BIGGER need than the one we express! Jesus met people at their point of need as a means of offering them something BIGGER and BETTER! He sees our need for food so that we can keep going but he also sees that we are all like sheep without a Shepherd in need of direction for life! This is what sets the church apart from all other helping agencies! We are Jesus-with-skin-on to every person! Jesus says, God blesses those who are hungry and thirsty for a right relationship with Him they will be fully satisfied! (Matthew 5:6) Thanks to all who help Indian River City Church meet our neighbors at the point of their hunger and introduce them to the One who can fill them to complete satisfaction! God bless you a lot and lots of others through you! Thanks for listening! Bill
