GCHS is SACS Accredited
We are pleased to announce that Gateway Charter High School has recently received its five year accreditation renewal from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS). This renewed accreditation continues our current accreditation through 2016.
SACS is the private, non-governmental organization that accredits educational institutions in the southern states of the United States (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia). The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Institutions seeking accreditation undergo an intensive self-review process in which they assess how well they are meeting their educational missions, goals, and expected outcomes, making improvements as needed. Gateway Charter High School is committed to upholding the highest standards of teaching and ensuring success for all of our students.
We would like to thank the administration, staff, students, and participating parents for all of their time and effort in receiving this renewed accreditation.

We Are The Griffins!
Gateway Charter High School (GCHS) is a public high school chartered by the School District of Lee County to serve students in the District. GCHS empowers families and supports students in grades 9-12 to meet and exceed rigorous academic standards, to promote life-long learning skills, and to advance our belief that parental involvement and partnership in education is critical to student success.
GCHS is accountable for academic results and fiscal practices to our Board (the Lee Charter Foundation), parents, and students. GCHS is reaching for the high standards established in its charter as evidenced by its A+ grade and graduation rate of 87% in 2007. These achievements are made possible through the support of our management company, Charter Schools USA.
All stakeholders will share the commitment to develop students, who are reflective, life-long learners prepared to contribute to society.
We believe a successful school involves the students, staff, parents, and other community members.
We believe that active participation on the part of students is required for them to learn.
We believe everyone deserves a safe, school environment.
We believe in providing a diverse curriculum that addresses student needs.
What is a Charter School?
Charter schools are part of a sweeping educational reform that places the highest priority on providing a better education. Charter schools are tuition free and are funded much like a public school, but each charter school is governed privately. Private governance places accountability squarely on the shoulders of the entity running the schools. Every dollar spent through the charter school system is focused on furthering each students education. Unlike traditional public schools, charter schools must demonstrate success, or they will lose their charter. Charter schools can be managed by municipalities, private companies or individuals.
Gateway Charter High is a member of the Charter Schools USA family of schools. Charter Schools USA is one of the largest providers of charter school management services in the state of Florida. CSUSA manages private and municipal charters for grades Pre-K through 12.
