Have you ever had one of those days when you were singing, acting, dancing, or involved in some athletic activity, and for one brief moment, you leapt to a higher level of understanding than you have ever known before?

This is the "Eureka" moment, one that we, as artists, live for, because now a greater oneness with process is no longer wishful thinking. Now our own body has shown us a higher path, and the goal becomes to create a strategy by which this Eureka can be experienced again and again, reflexively, at will.

I have created such a strategy, combining deep, yoga-based breathing and upper torso stress release exercises with resonator-vowel scales, to expand the space inside and create a pipe-like body experience. It's a visualization I call verticalizing the energy through the body and spinning it out of the top of the head. Acoustically, we are maximizing inner space, along with high forward articulation and lower torso support, so that the sound flies freely, like a bird in flight.
Now we're ready to sing a song.
