Driving While License Suspended or Revoked Offenses in Florida
1/6/2015
Driving with a suspended/revoked license can be as benign as a civil infraction or as serious as a third degree felony depending on your number of prior convictions and the reason for the suspension.

Driver's license law in Florida can be very complicated.  There a many bases for a license suspension, which include failure to pay child support, no insurance, a conviction for any drug related offense (including midsmeanor possession of marijuana), and/or a dui offense.  This is by no means an exhaustive list.  For the first offender, who has no knowledge of the suspension, the offense is classified as a non-criminal traffic infraction.  For the first offender, who has knowlege of the suspension, the offense is classified as a second degree misdmeanor.  Depending on the number of priors, and/or the basis for the suspension, you can be arrested, charged and convicted for a felony offense.  If you have been arrested or charged with a suspended license in the Tampa Bay area, you should consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney.
